Secret Santa 2018

Hello Fellow Bloggers

I wanted to share with you the Secret Santa gift exchange that went on at my work this year! I will be showing you what I bought for my Secret Santa and what my Secret Santa got me :) Traditionally, my family does not celebrate Christmas but I love this time of year. I love seeing the beautifully decorated homes, the kindness in people donating their time and goods to local charities, and the overall spirit of the season. Not going to lie I love the shopping and sales as well :D

The way we did our Secret Santa's this year was following our staff meeting. One thing you may not know about our staff meeting is after all the updates are done we have a staff potluck to raise money for United Way. For only $10.00 each month we PIG OUT on all that delicious food. All participating staff are placed on a list that is planned a year in advanced in the following categories: main, vegan main, side dish/salad, appetizer, fruit/dessert, drinks, and cutlery. For those who do not want to participate in making dishes pay a check of $200 to cover the whole year, but most staff enjoy participating and bring out their inner chef in the process. I was super happy I was on desserts this month since I got to do some Christmas baking which again I do not celebrate Christmas so I really did enjoy making my dessert.

My secret Santa went on an early vacation so I did not get to see her reaction to my gift at our little staff gathering but I will see what she thinks of it when she gets back, hehe! In all honesty, I love gift shopping and what I love more is wrapping gifts. For our secret Santa's this year the cap for the gift was $20.00, although seeing all the beautiful gifts I think some people may have gone a little bit over which is fine (since I did too, come on it's once a year!).  I bought my Secret Santa some Midnight Rain Wax Melts with a hidden ring inside by Ice N Fire (my little side hustle), I hope she gets a high priced ring inside to put my gift over the edge ;). I also bought her a comfy pair of slippers and a peppermint bar of soap. I put them all in an adorable red Santa basket that I found at the Dollarama! It just helped bring the whole gift together! After that I covered the gift in a black tissue paper and wrapped the whole thing in clear gift wrap, tied together with beautiful ribbon, and then covered the gift with festive stickers. I mustn't forget the nice candy cane I tied around the top.

My secret Santa turned out to be one of my good friends at work and I never sensed a thing, mind you I talk to her like every day! She got me an amazing gift! A book titled How to Show and Sell Your Crafts, a mug that says No Prob-llama with pictures of Llamas all over it, two rainbow bath bombs, an onesie for my little guy on the way, and two chocolate bars to bring that beautiful gift altogether. I can't forget the thoughtful card. The best part about the gift is that each item was individually wrapped with tissue paper and gorgeous gift boxes. I gave the gift to my daughter Malak after work to unwrap all over again and she had a blast going through, she even wanted to take a bath that evening to use the bath bombs!

Overall it was a fun Secret Santa day and the looks on everyone's faces when they were unwrapping their gifts was great to see. We don't always get to do fun stuff like that but when we do we go ALL OUT!

Do you do Secret Santa's at your work? If not what fun stuff do you do at work or with friends/family around the Holidays? Write it in the comments below :)

I hope all celebrating have a very Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays, and a Happy New Year. I hope this New Year is a great one for all!

Bath Bombs

Hello fellow bloggers,

Today's post is dedicated to my new bath bombs. I have received an interest from some of my friends and family and decided to go for it and try making some products. I have made a few and hope to experiment with many more fun scents!

The first product I created is a Peppermint Bath Bomb made with peppermint essential oils. Peppermint essential oil helps to relieve stress and reduce pain especially when applied in a nice warm bath. It also helps to reduce nausea and helps alleviate cold symptoms.Image may contain: people playing sports

The next one is a request I received from my sister to create a Charcoal Bath Bomb with Watermelon fragrance oil. Charcoal works wonders for the skin and helps reduce acne on the face and body. It removes dirt from the pores and thoroughly cleanses the skin. Just a warning you will most likely need to scrub the tub after using this bath bomb because of the charcoal!

The third one I have created is a Cedarwood Himalayan Bath Bomb that has cedarwood Himalayan essential oil and a little bit of charcoal to tint it grey. The benefits of cedarwood Himalayan essential oil includes skin care, promoting hair growth, and relieving tension. It is also recommended for oily skin and cellulite.

I am planning to create a few more scents but would love to hear some suggestions from you! What kind of Bath Bomb scents do you adore? What helps you to relax the most? Any fun designs you particularly favour?

Hope you have a fabulous day!

Introducing Me

Hi everyone,

Welcome to Malak Presents! Malak Presents is a very small business that I am trying to get to take off. I am not very specialized in a certain product yet and I have been dabbling in many other things. I guess my current goal for my business is to build it into a brand or a household name for many different types of products. It has the sense of a boutique style and if I can grow it to what I see as a sustainable business I would consider opening it a a store but that's thinking wayyyy down the road. So who am I?

My name is Mariam Hamou and I am a full-time Settlement Worker, I have a beautiful 3 year old daughter, and am expecting baby number 2  in February! I have a full plate on my hands but couldn't be happier. Recently I joined Ice N Fire as an independent consultant.

Ice N Fire is a Canadian based company that offers Jewelry candles, wax melts, bath salts, soaps, many different kinds of diffusers, fragrance oils, essential oils, and much more. Many of the products have a hidden gift inside whether that be a ring you can order in your size or a necklace. There are different products for different price points when it comes to the jewelry surprises. Customers from the United States can also purchase from the website, they just have to selected United States in the top right corner before they can begin shopping. Items can be ordered online and shipped straight to your door! See how convenient that is? Of course, you can ask a nearby independent consultant if you would like to smell products or purchase products they have on hand!

The reason I got into Ice N Fire is that soon enough I will be taking my maternity leave and that means I will not be working for the year. I want to continue to work, challenge myself, and create goals for myself! Being an independent consultant allows you to create your own hours, work at your own pace, and keep up with your personal goals without the added stress. I have always been someone with a passion for sales but didn't push myself outside my comfort zone. Now I'm trying to do more with my free-time instead of the usual lounge around and watch Netflix. Another reason is seeing people do so much with their free time and not to compare myself to others but I feel like I don't do anything of importance after my work day is done.

Back into Malak Presents, my own creation. I have dabbled with creating wedding/engagement centerpieces, homemade gift baskets, candy table creations, party games and decorations, as well as recently got into making homemade bath bombs, scrubs, and soaps. As stating earlier I am not specialized in one thing as I have many different areas that spark my interest. I am hoping that trying many different things will help me to create a focus or maybe all of them combined will help create a set brand? Who knows what the future has in store. My short term goal would have to be creating a range of on hand products, work on branding, and build my clientele. To be honest I have had the Facebook page built for Malak Presents for a few years but I didn't really take it seriously and just left it to gather dust. Now I am creating written plans for myself and monthly goals to accomplish to help keep me on task.

Check out my Facebook Page for Malak Presents Search me up on Instagram as well by searching malakpresents!

I appreciate you taking the time to read my blog post and I look forward to your interactions :)

Thank you!
